Pontes Village
Pontes Village is located in the Peneda Gerês National Park, is a traditional winter village in Castro Laboreiro, it is hidden in an enchanted valley, surrounded by trees and rivers, a place where tranquility reigns and nature is still in the purest state.
Uninhabited for more than 15 years, we are now bringing life back to this village, recovering traditional agriculture, raising cachena cows, beekeeping and rebuilding 9 houses for rural tourism, all to provide a comfortable and inspired stay for those who visit us.
We have recovered pastoralism with 15 adult cows of Cachena breed raised outdoors, step by step we are recovering subsistence agriculture by creating small vegetable gardens next to the houses and planting fruit trees throughout the village. We recovered and adapted to new times a beekeeping facility with around 60 hives for the production of pure Aldeia de Pontes honey, you can buy this honey in our reception. We rebuilt 9 houses of different types for rural tourism, always with the concern of maintaining their characteristic layout and using their original wood and stone in the construction, their interior is adapted to current needs, all the houses has a fully equipped kitchen and all rooms have a private bathroom. In Castro Laboreiro the winters are truly cold, all our houses have a fireplace and heating in the rooms. For a barbecue at the end of the day or just to read a book in peace, each house has a private outdoor area with a barbecue, a table and chairs, we also have an exclusive swimming pool for guests.
Our goal is preserve and enhance the historical and cultural heritage of Aldeia de Pontes and also Castro Laboreiro, respecting environmental sustainability and promoting an active lifestyle in harmony with Nature, we want to welcome all those who are passionate about Nature, hiking , rurality or simply those looking to disconnect and rest from the daily hustle and bustle.
From Pontes Village there are numerous pedestrian and mountain bike trails, trails for all ages with different levels of difficulty, you can walk surrounded by almost untouched nature and discover the local culture and the rich historical heritage of Castro Laboreiro.
In the surrounding mountains you can see the mountain goat in its natural habitat, in the Laboreiro river just 500 meters away the otter or the water blackbird, for the warmer days we have our swimming pool exclusive for our guests, or 500m away in the Laboreiro river the “Poço do Contador” and 900m away the waterfall of Pontes, places with crystal clear water and very quiet, where you can take a refreshing dip.
